Thirtysomething College Student

Hey y’all! I wanted to pop in and give you a quick update about my first week as a thirtysomething college student.

The Highlights:

  • A female custodian at the library said I looked like Taylor Swift. Note to self: wear red lipstick more often!
  • My feet, back, and well pretty much everything hurts.
  • Getting up at 5:30 am is hard.
  • Online classes are harder than I expected.
  • After much searching I found decent coffee on campus, and it’s NOT at the Starbucks.
  • I’m walking 2-3 miles a day, quads of steel here I come.
  • Seriously, where does Algebra go after you learn it the first time? Come back Algebra!

  1. I went back after 30 also. It wasn’t easy–especially math. I got lots of tutoring. Math is like a muscle, if you don’t use it, you lose it. On the flip side, I did well with anything that required reading and writing. And yes, online classes are harder than most people think. However, in the end, it’s worth it. Best of luck to you.

  2. Hi Alida. Congratulations! I got laid off the day before my birthday. I took a week to decide what I wanted to be when I grow up. After 36 years ( let you do the math to figure out my age), I am now attending college and pursuing my degree in Behavioral Science/Psychology. I thought doing classes on line would be easier but I’ve been in class almost every day since I started. Three weeks in I think I found my rhythm. Now to eek out some time to sew!

I love feedback! What did you think of this article?
