I love pretty much every piece of clothing in the whole Boardwalk Empire series. While I initially wanted to make a dress for this challenge, I realized the 1920s drop waist dresses would not flatter me at all. I wanted something with a deep V neckline in a shape that would flatter my figure, so The Wild Flower Top from Pattern Anthology was a natural choice. Here is my inspiration photo:
The Wild Flower Top has an option for flutter sleeves, and I really wish I had made them instead of the straight sleeves. I thought the flutter sleeves would look too cutesy for me to wear every day, but now I’m pretty sure I need to rip the sleeves out and sew flutter ones on. What do you think?
The fabric is a stretch lace from Joann Fabric. Because it’s so sheer, I omitted the front scoop-neck piece. I knew I would always wear a tank top under it anyway, nobody needs to see my mommy gut!
Please excuse my squinty eyes, Spring allergies are upon us here in the south!
I made this kimono way back in October, but never shared it here, and it fits so perfectly with the theme I’m including it.
There are brothels and show girls and, well, lots of ladies in their underthings on the show. I love the look of silky underthings with a kimono, but I decided to stick to a more modern way to wear it 😉 For a great kimono tutorial go here.
Are you ready to show me what you got? This linky party will be live until March 30 at 11:55pm EST. Can’t wait to see what you make! One entry will be randomly chosen to win a fabulous prize!
