Ellie’s STYLO Look

STYLO MAGAZINE

By now I’m sure you’ve seen the latest issue of STYLO, but if not go look!  Today I’m going to give you the details on Ellie’s outfit.

STYLO Issue 3 | Alida Makes

Last time I made two looks, one of which had three pieces, for Gabe and Charlotte, and I felt rushed and frustrated through the whole process. This time I wanted to keep it simple and make two pieces that are really well done. I chose the Haute Hippie Crop and the Scene VI Dress by Cali Faye Collection.

I changed up the back of the Scene VI dress from straight straps to crisscross straps so that they didn’t slip off while Ellie was twirling and running. This was my first time doing adjustable straps and it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be!

Both the dress and the blazer patterns are phenomenal. They both fit perfectly and the finish on both is very professional.

I used two different locations for this photo shoot, both at my in-law’s farm house. I love how the photos from the side of the house turned out! Ellie was running and twirling for the majority of the shoot but I was able to get a few pictures of her standing still. Then we moved a the wooded area on the property to take some nature shots.

Let’s talk styling choices shall we?

I let Ellie pick out her shoes, and she chose her pink Chuck Taylors. I thought it was a great choice! The shoes give her outfit a cool vibe, don’t you think?

STYLO Issue 3 | Alida MakesI made Ellie’s Betsy doll a matching dress in hopes that she would want to carry her during the photo shoot. It’s so important to give young kids something to do with their hands during photo shoots. Her holding Betsy led to some amazing shots.

I also decided to curl Ellie’s hair and color her bangs pink with hair chalk. The shoes have kind of a punk rock vibe so I wanted her hair to have attitude too!

It’s hard to see, but Ellie’s Betsy doll also got some pink hair chalk. I think she digs it. (Want your own Betsy Doll? Go HERE.)
