Blank Slate Patterns: Cool Cardigan

Hey y’all!  Today I’m a part of Blank Slate Patterns Fall Pattern Tour!

I chose to sew the Cool Cardigan because it’s one I hadn’t sewn before and Caroline desperately needs sweaters.  I chose a purple and a charcoal shimmery sweater knit from Joanns, this stuff is like butta! I want to make a cocoon for myself out of it and never come out.
I usually sew a 2t width and a 5t length for everything I make this little bean pole, but I liked the idea of the cardi being slouchy and oversized so I sewed a size 5.  I’m so glad I did because it looks so good and she has plenty of room to grow!
Can you stand the hands on the hips?  What a diva!
The pants are Hosh pants, I used the 18-24 month width and 5t length. She has plenty of room to grow into them too :-). The fabric is repurposed from an unexpected source, I will dish on that tomorrow!
This pattern is excellent. One thing I’ve noticed about Blank Slate Patterns is the finishing is always impeccable. This cardigan probably took an hour longer than it would have if I had done it ‘my way’ (quick and dirty and serge all the things) but I’m so glad I took the extra time to finish it right!  The inside looks as good as the outside and that’s saying a LOT coming from me.
I also want to mention that this month Melissa is donating 50% of her profits to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.   So head on over to Blank Slate Patterns and buy lots of patterns!
