Hey y’all! It’s that time of year again, time for jacket sewing! That’s why I chose to sew the Olivia and Oliver Pea Coat by Peek A Boo Pattern Shop for their Fall tour today.
I’m kind of stuck on cobalt blue right now, so when I envisioned this coat I wanted it cobalt blue and quilted. (Why a quilted pea coat? Because I’m a rebel.) Of course I could not find anything remotely similar to what I wanted at the fabric store, so I headed to the local thrift shop and look what I found!
I was so psyched. And it was $3.
The leopard/cheetah fabric is from Joann’s. I was iffy on the contrasting lapel but I LOVE how it came out. This pattern is so easy to use and it only took me about 3 hours start to finish.
There are a few extra seams on this jacket because I cut it out of an existing jacket. For instance there is a curved seam going up both front pieces. Also, because I used quilted fabric, the finished product fits slightly slimmer than the pattern. I chose gigantic mint colored buttons because, well, when else was I going to get an opportunity to use those suckers?!
Also, may I just mention that Ellie is the cutest stinkin’ model ever? She really hammed it up for this shoot. Those Risky Business sunglasses? Her fave. Dollar Store FTW!
If you want this pattern, (and I know you do!) go HERE.
Make sure you go over to Naptime Crafters on Saturday because there is going to be a massive giveaway! Also September 30-October 4 there will be a Pea Coat sew along. Don’t miss out!
