Redecorating the Glider

The next step in my odyssey to completely redecorate the nursery is…the glider. This glider is about 7 years old, and it was the cheapest one I could find at the time, a denim one from Wally World. I have already covered it once, with lovely kitty fabric, but it doesn’t really go with the new decor.

For the glider cushions I basically made pillow cases for them, in the shape of the cushions. Eventually I will put velcro on them to keep them shut, but school is out because of the snow and I don’t think I have it in me to go to Hancocks with 3 kids, so it will have to wait.
The foot glider is super easy to cover, here are some instructions!

What you need:

fabric
screw driver
staple gun

First you need to flip the thing over.

See my lovely assistant? Next you need to unscrew the top of the foot glider from the base.

If you have a lovely assistant, now would be the time to distract him/her!

Cut a hole in the fabric right above that hole.

Now all you have to do is screw the bottom back on! Success! How easy was that?

The only thing I haven’t done on the glider is the arms…not sure what to do with those yet. I’ll let you know when I figure it out!

  1. I just found your blog and I love this post because I am pregnant with my third boy ( I will have 3 boys under age 3.. i know, im crazy) and the last two have destroyed our glider fabric and I was JUST thinking about re-covering it, but I am being lazy and not starting because I wasn’t quite sure how to go about it, but you make it look so easy and that blue looks Awesome and bright! Now I just have to figure out what to do with the chair cushions and arms.
I also liked your blog and kept reading because I noticed you started in September and then couldnt get to it again till Jan. I LOVE that haha because I started mine last October and haven’t written since, but your blog “reactivation” just may inspire me 😉

I love feedback! What did you think of this article?
